I’ve been having a lot of fun taking photos of people lately!
When I first got into photography, I thought that in order to become a better photographer, I had to master portrait photography which at the time scared me to death! So I got a job at JC Penney Portrait Studio and began taking tons of photos of families, babies, little kids, and just masses and masses of people. Sadly in the whole experience, I learned really quick that taking photos that way took away my passion for photography. So I quit that job and for a very long time refrained from taking people photographs.

I have lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for most of my life so when I discovered the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden earlier this month – I was MORE than delighted!!!!!! I love beautiful gardens and who doesn’t love roses!!?! So this was a wonderful discovery for me!!!!
Every year my church, The Highway Community, does this amazing installation called Stations of the Cross. It happens on Good Friday right before Easter and it is an event you don’t want to miss! There are so many details that go into it from the Last Supper food elements to the amazing candle displays EVERYWHERE to the ripped curtain at the end. The set up is so involved and Biblically accurate – it truly takes you back in time to the day when Jesus was crucified and rose from the dead. And it helps you mentally unpack that crazy powerful experience!
Today is a very special day! My dear Mama, Judy Squier, is now 70 years old!!!!!!!!
Happy Birthday Mama Mia! I can not believe it – how time flies! Yet you are so young at heart and have so much life you – I know that turning 70 is just a tiny stepping stone in this life you are living! This last year, I have had the privilege of doing some website/design work for the Silicon Valley Prayer Breakfast (SVPB). SVPB is an amazing group of Christian individuals who host breakfasts throughout the year. These breakfasts are open to anyone for the purpose of sharing the gospel, inspiring each other in their work endeavors, and providing a place for networking. There are quarterly breakfasts which tend to be small events and then there is an annual breakfast every March which is a pretty big deal!
There is something so majestic about the skies at twilight in January here in the San Francisco Bay Area!
Day after day, I’m left in awe of the aftermath of the sky after sunset! It draws me outside each evening around 5pm just to see what beauty might unfold! Awhile back, my hubby and I went on a hike through the rolling Stanford hills. While he was busy trying to keep a steady pace, I was zipping back and forth in awe of the utter beauty taking as many photos as I possibly could. We had timed the hike perfectly so that it was just around sunset and so amazing things were happening with the light. Even without my good camera and simply my iPhone, I was loving the images that I captured! It’s hard to believe that another year has already come and gone! Time is flying more and more quickly the older I get! It was a good year and there were definitely some fun projects along the way. Here is a tribute to some of the work that was done by Scatter Joy Designs!
Something I have been doing more of recently is creating Scripture Pictures.
A scripture picture is just a photo paired with a Bible verse or scripture passage. Super plain and simple yet difficult to create! I love creating them because they are good practice for my photography and graphic design skills. And in creating them, the scripture passage I work with totally comes to life in a richer way than just reading over it in my Bible. Last weekend, I had the opportunity of attending Peninsula Bible Church’s Name of God Art Show. I used to attend this church when I was younger, but it’s been some time since I’d been there. I felt a little out of touch with everything and had no idea what to expect with the show but thankfully I was in for a grand treat!
Every autumn, I get eager with anticipation for The Great Glass Pumpkin Patch!
It is an event like no other and is often one of the highlights of my season! I love going and marveling at the hundreds of amazing hand blown pumpkins. There is such a wide array of color, size, and style! No two pumpkins are the same yet some are very similar. Each pumpkin has it’s own unique brilliance as it glistens in the sunlight! It is a feast for the eyes and so much fun to photograph! |
