Summer is my favorite time of the year because gardens are at the height of their beauty. I love getting lost in a garden and surveying the progress of all the flowers and plants. I have spent many hours mesmerized as I photograph them. But there is another side of the garden that intrigues me just as much and that is all the garden formal details. The sundial. The garden gate. The lily pad pond. The babbling fountain. The bird bath and feeder. And any additional formal architectural elements that show love and care. These are things that people do not often look for in a garden but they add so much! I love discovering these elegant details, sometimes hidden behind the bountiful growth, and I am grateful for the different type of beauty they exude on the rest of the garden.
